Resumen
This research is focused on the implementation of educational material to learn English at home. The chosen population for this study were eight homeschool families from Bogota, who perceive parental involvement as a fundamental factor to improve teaching experiences. The goal of this action research is to describe the impact of the implementation of educational material in homeschool families. Therefore, qualitative research and action research were used as the basis of this study, developed through participants’ observations and interviews with the help of surveys and field notes. To analyze the data, the researchers implemented the method triangulation dividing the collected information into three categories. The findings of the investigation were that the educational material was meaningful for the families because the activities and resources were attractive and innovative. In addition, all families had a positive impact evidenced in different aspects as well as their English level. However, some weaknesses were found related to the level and time of the sessions along with the insecurity and frustration of parents. Finally, as it is well known, the current pandemic “Covid-19”, brought challenging situations for the whole society, like virtuality. That is why this project is a way of contributing to virtual education. The researchers consider that homeschool should be more studied in Colombia as many families are adopting this educational alternative. It should include a more specific policy and better resources for parents, tutors, and students in order to improve their teaching-learning experiences.
