Resumen
The development of a Smart Tourist Destination (STD) involves engaging in a management process supported by the use of technology to enhance the tourist experience, while also addressing the needs and requirements of host communities. In this sense, one of the main objectives of STDs is to ensure the sustainability of tourism in all its dimensions: economic, environmental, and sociocultural. Open tourism data is a fundamental component of an STD. Specifically, open data related to tourism inventories and the characteristics of host communities makes it possible to identify their needs and limitations, thus facilitating the formulation of policies that promote their protection, conservation, and the improvement of their current conditions. However, there is a widespread lack of this type of data at a global level, partly due to the predominant focus on enhancing the tourist experience, which centers on the traveler's perception and economic aspects. Additionally, it has been observed that open tourism data, as in other sectors, faces further challenges, such as the large number of data structures used by different publishers. This diversity hinders data reuse, particularly in the development of technological applications. This research proposes an architecture that addresses these issues by establishing standards and guidelines for the creation of open data sets on tourism inventories and host community characteristics. It applies quality and interoperability criteria and aligns with the features of Colombia’s Open Data Portal for publication purposes—all with the aim of maximizing their reuse in technological developments.
