Abstract This research is aimed at strengthening social and communication skills that facilitate social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in the community of Hunza. It was held at the House of Culture City Hunza, which promotes artistic, cultural and heritage processes, consolidating and meeting spaces for community living. The study was developed with children (as) between 7-11 years of age diagnosed with mild mental retardation and an adult of 33 years old with Down syndrome. The proposal arises from the needs that affect the social, school and community participation of the people, preventing their inclusion in the community and wasting the skills and potentials which are evident in each (a). So the implementation of teaching strategies, to identify and strengthen social skills such as autonomy, relationships and instrumental skills are necessary. And such as communication skills, verbal and nonverbal communication, for giving the subject the possibility of being included in activities and programs offered at the house of culture for the community. The main theoretical research addressed by the Social Inclusion were Majumder (2002), Garcia and Fernandez (2005). From Social Skills contributions Verdugo (2009), Garcia Saenz and Gil (1992), Garcia (2011) they resumed. Later in regard to Communication Skills ideas Verdugo (1998), Hidalgo (1999) and Garcia (2011) are taken up. Keywords: social inclusion, social skills, communication skills, intellectual disabilities.
