Resumen
This document analyzes the environmental and social impacts derived from the mining of construction materials in the municipality of Soacha, Cundinamarca. Through a mixed methodology with a qualitative and quantitative approach, where the current mining processes were identified, the main effects on the environment and the community, and the effectiveness of current environmental policies and regulations was evaluated. For this purpose, surveys were applied to residents near the mining area, in addition to the analysis of a mining concession based on the Vicente Conesa Fernández-Vitora matrix. Los resultados revelan altos niveles de afectación en el suelo, el aire, el agua, la biodiversidad, el paisaje y la salud de los habitantes, así como una percepción generalizada de debilidad institucional y bajo control ambiental. It is concluded that, although there is a robust regulatory framework, its implementation in the territory is limited, which requires strengthening the processes of monitoring, environmental restoration and community participation to move towards a more responsible and sustainable mining.
