Resumen
Flavonoids are a type of secondary metabolite found mainly in vascular plants in the form of glycosides, with antioxidant capacities beneficial to human health; A very specific type of flavonoid are the dihydrochalcones, present in the leaves of Lithocarpus litseifolius (sweet tea) and in the fruit of Iryanthera laevis (Mamito) where it can be easily extracted. In the present work, the chemical synthesis of dihydrochalcones was carried out, inducing the reduction to the alpha-beta carbons of chalcones, by a dismutation reaction mechanism proposed by Cannizzaro, justifying the structure obtained by instrumental methods such as NMR and GC / MS. This method allows to consider other types of reagents, catalysts and reaction times that give way to establish a new methodology that reports effective yields higher than 59.10%.
