Abstract

Music, as an artistic form that facilitates ways to express emotions and sensations trough a nonverbal language, allows individuals, whose mental processes vary according to their diverse skills, to find an alternative way to evoke their perception towards the environment they experience and interact with. Additionally, having in mind that musical language is a conglomerate of skills, it is important to highlight this process does not rely uniquely on interacting with the outer world, but it also remarks on music's capacity to understand oneself and go through an introspective process; starting from experiences such as self-expression through movement, experiences with a variety of sounds, bonds established with classmates and sensations felt while performing on a musical show. Having in mind the aforementioned considerations, the results of the experience with the students who are part of the HABIDER INTERNACIONAL NGO will be presented, discussing how the artistic process strove to facilitate new channels for students to express throughout the work made in the prior mentioned organization.
