Resumen
Hazardous waste is considered a source of risk to the environment and health. This work focuses on the environmental evaluation of the hazardous waste collection centers in the Mexichem Colombia–Pavco Wavin company. To do this, a search for secondary information was carried out, environmental information provided by the company was collected, the temporary storage areas for hazardous waste at each plant were identified, and a systematization of suppliers for disposal and/or recovery of the waste was carried out. Then, the evaluation of compliance with environmental regulations of the temporary hazardous waste storage areas was carried out and the critical points in the temporary hazardous waste storage areas of each plant were identified. Separation at the source is a challenge for each area, there is a lack of knowledge on the subject, containers without any label or color alluding to waste (RESPEL). Hence, activities are proposed to train all personnel, recognize the distribution of areas, and suggest the acquisition of appropriate containers or infrastructure based on the information obtained.
