Resumen
The main objective of this project is to analyze the dispersion of surface waves to generate wave velocity models in central and western Colombia, identifying the different components that structure the subsoil. These components and their location in the crust allow, define the characteristics that can be identified in the speed models obtained from the inversion of the dispersion curves acquired with the multiple filtering method.
For this study the seismological information was supplied by the National Seismological Network of Colombia of the Colombian Geological Service, specifically the stations located in the central and western part, a part of which defined the limits of the study area. The area of the subsurface to be determined corresponds to the discontinuity of Moho, which forms the separation surface between the less dense materials of the crust and the denser materials of the mantle, and as a consequence the seismic waves suffer when crossing this Region a Abrupt change of speed. It should be noted that Mohorovicic discontinuity is at a different depth, depending on whether it lies under oceanic or continental crust.
