Evaluación técnica de la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales “Quinta Brasilia” ubicada en el municipio de Honda – Tolima

Abstract

The current Project has the purpose to generate a technical assessment of the Wastewater Treatment System of Quinta Brasilia’s Plant that is located in Honda, Tolima. The objective is to diagnose the state of the Wastewater Treatment Plant; establish conditions to improve its infrastructure and operating systems; and finally, determine the efficiency of the treatment and the quality of wastewater. During the development of this project, it was important to gather necessary information; whit that information, the student identified failures in the current regulations. Those failures confirm the absence of technical management by the company that provides the water and sewage system services. “Empresa de Servicios Públicos de Natagaima (ESPUNAT)” is the company that provides those services in this town. As a result of the information recollected and a technical visit that was made by the students, it was possible to make evident that some structures of the Wastewater Treatment Plant fell into disrepair, for that reason there are a reduction in the efficiency of the Wastewater Treatment Processes, an increment in odors and an emergence of vectors, because of the mismanagement. On the other hand, the students identified that the company ESPUNAT has not made analysis of wastewater’s quality since 2012; also the Wastewater Treatment Plant does not work full-time and the untreated wastewater is discharged directly into the River Gualí.
