Resumen
This document presents a study carried out on AISI A-572 steel elc which was subjected to a thermal treatment of tempering from intercritical temperatures, followed by a tempering at different temperatures to then analyze the behavior of the material against abrasive wear. For the analysis on the abrasive wear was worked under the ASTM G-65, which corresponds to a test to three bodies that includes dry sand and a rubber wheel that simulate the loss of volume in a given cycle, it is worth clarifying that in this case, the abrasive agent named in the standard was not used, but instead, 70 mesh silica sand was used. Subsequently and in order to understand the behavior of the material against abrasive wear, a metallographic study is made to observe the microstructure of the material in each state, in addition to the use of a scanning electron microscope that shows the wear trace on the material. Finally, the results are compared with a previously conducted study within the District University to an AISI 1020 steel which was subjected to abrasive wear on the same parameters as the AISI A-572 steel, taking into account that for the first study the Steel contained more carbon and less manganese in its chemical composition compared to the second material.
