Resumen
The text is an interview with Patricia Macioli, Rector of the Alessandro Volta school/gymnasium and representative for Italy at the Fifth International Congress on Early Childhood Education. Macioli underscores the need to transform traditional preschool towards an education that views the child as an integral and unique being, valuing all their characteristics and aspects of their personality (reason, affectivity, sensitivity). Play and ludic activities are fundamental, as they are the child's natural mode of relating to the world. The objective is not just to develop specific subjects, but skills that allow the child to face the future. A core and fundamental aspect of the new educational model is the union and coherence between the family and the school/college. Macioli emphasizes that the family is the main protagonist in a child's education and the school acts as an ally that broadens the child's environment. The transition from home to school must be "supremely tender," offering the child the same protection, attention, and affection they find at home. Regarding the current complacency and manipulation of children towards parents and teachers, Macioli recommends always focusing on the educational goal: the child's full development, which includes the capacity to love, accept others, and collaborate. Educating them in their relationship with reality and others implies preventing them from being "overbearing" or "arrogant." She mentions Italy as a leading country and an example of excellence in early childhood education, attributing this to its historical tradition of welcoming others and its attention to the weakest members, such as children. Italy promotes personalized attention and viewing the real child in their uniqueness and integrality. Finally, she highlights that any government (including Colombia) must see early childhood education as the best investment for the country's future and transformation. Regarding early schooling (daycare), she points out that it is positive as long as there is total coherence and security between the family environment and the educational environment, and there is investment in teacher training. Ms. Macioli's intervention at the V Congress was scheduled around 11 a.m., and the event will feature the participation of countries such as Cuba, Paraguay, Japan, Finland, and Ital
