Abstract

The investigation Where the city smells like shit. from forum theater to action catharsis addresses the analysis of staging and its effect on the viewer, based on three basic concepts: forum theater, discrimination in everyday language and action catharsis; This last notion proposes new participants in the theatrical exchange, in which the actor, with the dramatic action, motivates the viewer to modify and complete the work. The work was carried out under the methodological guidelines proposed by the research-creation, which revolves mainly around three axes: the creator, the work of art itself and, finally, the relationship with the viewer and its implications on the research. Now, from the analysis of the relations between actor and spectator, it is concluded that the catharsis of action in the spectator is the product of the influence of the scenic action as such on him; This action leads him to intervene in the scene modifying it and, at the same time, confronting it with his own actions, behaviors, emotions, thus identifying a personal representation with said actions; in this way, through action catharsis, the viewer reacts with an intervention-action that modifies or corrects behaviors.
