Resumen
Food losses in Colombia each year transcend the amount of food available for consumption, increased prices and reduced access to it, which is reflected in the country's food security indices. The fundamental purpose of this thorough research is to develop a social and environmental analysis of the causes and consequences of food loss and waste throughout the agri-food chain and as a central case of study the Corabastos power plant in Bogota. This becomes a compelling reason for the proposal of possible solutions that seek to prevent and reduce the loss of food that is discarded and their status reflects that they can still be used for human consumption, for this it is part of forecasts and estimates, based on social and environmental studies, which have been developed at national and global level.
