Resumen
Goal 6 for Sustainable development adopted in 2015 by the UN proposes to guarantee the availability of water and its sustainable management and sanitation for all, taking into account that more than 80% of wastewater resulting from human activities is discharged into rivers or the sea without any treatment, which causes its pollution. From this, wastewater treatment takes on great importance, within which coagulation-flocculation is one of the essential processes, mainly for the removal of suspended materials. The objective of this monograph was to collect information on extracts derived from natural species used as coagulants-flocculants; For this, bibliographic resources of different natural species were collected and characterized in order to design an evaluation method that allowed determining the technical feasibility for the application of these species in water treatment. From the above, it was possible to determine that the species / polymers that present a greater feasibility for their implementation as natural coagulants / flocculants in water treatment are: Moringa oleifera, Guazuma ulmifolia, Chitosano, Strychnos Potatorum and Musa paradisiaca.
