Resumen
The present work is aimed at carrying out an environmental experience that strengthens school environmental projects (PRAE) as a strategic tool which was applied in two educational institutions in the city of Bogotá, Institución Educativa Colegio Santos Apostles and in Colegio Distrital Manuel Cepeda Vargas. Through which mechanisms are sought that allow the formation of environmentally responsible citizens, who contribute to society an environmental culture that is concerned with maintaining a healthy and healthy environment and that achieves changes in attitude, promoting community participation among students, teachers and parents. , where it provides knowledge, values, attitudes and skills through different activities. In this work, the consumption of materials harmful to the environment was addressed as an environmental problem, one of them being products made of plastic, from their production, recycling and disposal. Many of the things we have at home are made of this material, some we have changed trying to use other elements which help mitigate the environmental impact. Currently and thanks to technology, progress has been made to not use this material, but we have to be aware that it is necessary to promote new strategies where activities for and in favor of education are developed. After the pandemic experienced with COVID-19, the situation with waste management worsened, the consumption of plastic materials increased, this is why it is important to highlight that it is an event that must be evaluated and rethink strategies that were already being worked on in educational institutions such as recycling. Law 99 of 1993 establishes environmental education as mandatory in educational establishments; this is done through the General Education Law proposing “School Environmental Projects.” Environmental education is a process that seeks to establish a person/environment relationship, aimed at the conservation of the environment and framed in sustainable development. The Colombian government has proposed the implementation of the (PRAE) as a strategy with the aim of promoting and specifying education policies in practice (Mora, 2018). The (PRAE) works with ongoing training in educational institutions for teachers to promote research, among other strategies. Integration in the school implies the recognition of the institutional, local and global context to propose and implement pedagogical projects that, from the District Educational Institutions (IED), expose curricular processes that guarantee interdisciplinary, transversal, relevant and coherent pedagogical actions. The José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden of Bogotá (JBBJCM) is a district research center in high Andean and paramo ecosystems, responsible for the comprehensive management of green coverage in the city, and the development of environmental and educational education programs. The educational area of the Environmental Social Service (SSA) develops its work aimed at a cultural change, so that a sustainable, equitable and resilient city can be built from educational institutions. This work is carried out by providing support in this area where one of its strategies carries out activities in favor of education and participation, in which a contribution is developed in formal and non-formal education, and citizen participation processes in the territory are managed. seeking social appropriation (Jardín Botánico de Bogotá. 2018).
