Resumen
This undergraduate thesis, developed under the Creation and Interpretation modality, proposes an adaptation of the traditional rhythmic patterns of currulao from Colombia’s southern Pacific region to the modern drum set. Based on the analysis of the piece Si Me Miraras Morena by the group Alé Kumá, the author conducts a detailed study of the rhythmic cells of non-pitched percussion instruments such as cununos, bombos, and guasás, transcribing and transforming them into grooves with variations applicable to the drum set. The work also aims to provide technical and methodological tools for drummers interested in Colombian folklore, including a historical, social, geographic, and cultural contextualization of currulao, highlighting the richness of the marimba ensemble as an Afro-Colombian sonic heritage expression. The result is an innovative proposal that not only contributes to the recognition of the southern Pacific musical traditions but also expands the expressive possibilities of the contemporary drummer through a dialogue between tradition and creation.
