Resumen
The world of motorsports contains, from an engineering point of view, a countless number of possible optimizations that allow us to improve the performance of the vehicle and make the most of it. Nowadays, the software applied to these optimizations is decisive and of great help when developing complex algorithms, thereby facilitating applications that help engineers make the best decisions in order to optimize time and costs. This document will present the development process of an engineering design software application. This software, programmed in MATLAB, designs competition automotive transmissions focusing on optimizing the performance of the vehicles used in the Colombian TC2000. It is a very useful tool in the industry because initially it takes the technical specifications of the vehicle for which the design is needed and subsequently, transmission ratios are calculated that allow better acceleration and top speed according to the power, then, using algorithms, the They find the numbers of teeth of each gear with their respective diameter, module and other geometry parameters. Once the geometric data is obtained, the forces and safety factors for each gear are calculated depending on the selected material; All applied equations and theoretical information are based on the AGMA 2001-D04 standard, in the same way the shafts on which the gears will be mounted are designed taking machine design books as reference. When the new characteristics of the transmission are generated, the most relevant data will be displayed in the graphical interface and if the user agrees with the data obtained, they will be able to generate Excel files with the technical specifications calculated by the application.
