Resumen
The development of this monograph is based on a review and bibliographic compilation on the drinking water treatment methods, of a documentary research type specifically in the coagulation and flocculation processes, which are implemented in drinking water treatment for solids sedimentation and removal and / or abatement turbidity in water, which are considered as parameters that measure the quality and purity of water; in the same way, various chemical coagulating agents and flocculants to determine which of them are the most appropriate in optimizing these processes. Taking into account the above, a review is carried out in the main databases of free consultation and others to which the Francisco José de Caldas District University subscribes. The review of approximately 50 scientific articles related to the treatment of drinking water allowed to determine the optimal values of different physical-chemical parameters (organoleptics, pH, concentration of active agents, among others), which must be monitored in the water to achieve an optimal state for human consumption. Also I know emphasizes the processes carried out by drinking water treatment plants in the city of Bogotá, being the main coagulant agents PAC (polychloride of aluminum), ferric chloride and aluminum sulfate, which allow obtain water that is fit for human consumption at an accelerated rate and at a relatively low cost affordable.
