Aporte a procesos de apropiación social liderados por el Jardín Botánico de Bogotá en el sendero ecológico del río Vicachá (Parque del Agua, Localidad de Santa Fe, Bogotá D.C.) por medio de la implementación de estrategias de educación ambiental

Abstract

The San Francisco or Vicachá River is located in the town of La Candelaria, was one of the most important water sources for the city of Bogotá in its origins, being the structural axis on which the city was organized and grew until it was contaminated product of the increase in population and deficiency in environmental administration, which led to its deterioration and channeling (Ortiz, 2011). Nowadays, the river passes underground through the city until it flows into the Fucha River (Rubiano & Sánchez, 2006). The highest part of the river conserves its natural structure and has become an ecological path that few know, despite the passage of time continues to face environmental and social problems, such as insecurity and pollution. (Local Mayorship of the Candelaria, 2013). The knowledge and appropriation of this space through environmental education strategies is imperative to advance in its recovery, care and preservation. For this reason, interventions were carried out that involved various actors such as the community, educational institutions, public institutions, among others, to implement strategies to publicize and preserve the heritage, cultural and environmental value of the path, through tours, recognition activities and reflection. These activities encouraged interaction with the natural and historical environment, which strengthened the identity with the territory causing a positive impact on the relations of the population intervened with this area of ​​the city.
