Resumen
The current document corresponds to an automation proposal to a procedure performed by the staff of Flight Procedure Designers by Instruments of the Colombian Air Force to build the protection area for holding pattern, based on the criteria established in document 8168 in the construction of procedures of visual and instrument flight, Volume II, Aircraft Operation (ICAO, 2014), through a tool that facilitates design work from initial data input to output graph, maintaining the integrity of the data and calculations throughout the process, in smaller weather. This tool was developed using programming language (Python) system database management (PostgreSQL) and software for Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS), whose data entry is done through a graphical interface that is linked to processes internal PostgreSQL and Python, the dimensions resulting from the calculations performed depend on of the performance data of the aircraft, under specific atmospheric conditions, provided by the designer, obtaining as a result a scheme of the procedure of expects that it meets the criteria applicable to this flight phase.
