Resumen
Post-consumer programs in Bogotá seek to properly manage waste products that, due to their composition, can generate negative impacts on the environment and public health. These include batteries, expired medicines, used oils, electrical and electronic devices, tires and pesticide containers. From an environmental perspective, these programs have allowed the reduction of soil, water and air pollution, avoiding the inappropriate disposal of hazardous waste. In addition, they promote the circular economy by promoting recycling and the recovery of valuable materials. Regarding social impact, they have generated environmental awareness among citizens and promoted the participation of different actors, such as companies, consumers and environmental authorities. They have also promoted green employment, especially in recycling and waste management sectors. However, the analysis reveals challenges such as low coverage, lack of incentives for the end user and limitations in infrastructure for the collection and treatment of waste. It is recommended to strengthen regulation, improve the accessibility of collection points and increase awareness campaigns to maximize the effectiveness of these programs.
