Resumen
In the present document describes the design and construction of a portable rainfall simulator, able to replicate the characteristics of natural rainfall like drop size and storm intensity. To meet the objectives it was necessary revise bibliography for the purpose of meet similars documents to worldwide, nationwide and locally. Made the bibliography consultation it was established that exist two groups of rainfall simulators: Simulators by sprinkling and simulators by drip or gravity (BENITO, de BLAS, SANTIAGO, L., & VARELA, 2001). In the design stage it was decided to construct a simulator by sprinkling and portable. the instrument built has a power system, pumping system, distribution network, spray nozzles and recirculation system. To ensure the replication with certainty physical characteristics of rain were did tests to determine drop size, intensity and spacial distribution of storm generated by the simulator. The simulator finally built was donated for the authors of this document to the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources of the Distrital University Francisco José of Caldas.
