Resumen
For the development of the project presented in this document, Business Intelligence is defined as the set of concepts and methods that allow better decision making of organizations, using fact-based support systems [20]. This definition involves the creation of computer solutions such as Data mart and Data warehouse. A Data mart is defined as "a departmental database specialized in storing the data of a specific business area" 1, and defines a Data warehouse as "a single, complete and consistent data warehouse obtained from a variety of sources and made available to end users so that they can understand and use it in the context of the business "as defined by Barry Devlin and Paul Murphy in his article" An Architecture for a Business and Information System "of 1988 . For the project set out in this document, the elements and possible interrelations of analysis that the demand in the local market of computer applications (Data mart) developed by specialized personnel, that allow to satisfy requirements of graphical and alphanumeric information for the making of business, policy or market decisions. At present the methodologies and computer tools that support the development of Data mart, do not contemplate the adequate capture of requirements and its basic elements. Thus, for example, the Kimball methodology [4], although it has a complete section describing how to correctly address the requirements phase of a project, does not specify the analysis of the availability of resources and data [4]. 1 Taken from [24] Page 1. 6 In this context, the developers of this type of application (Data mart) should be based on their expertise or the expertise of their team to be able to establish the main elements of the project in the requirements phase, as already indicated tools documents do not allow for the accurate identification of these elements (eg Tables of Facts and Dimensions). For this reason, this project focused on creating a case tool to document the requirements of a Data mart.
