Consultoría para la Red Lan del Instituto Metropolitano de Medellín

Abstract

In this project was done the consulting for the LAN network of the Metropolitan Institute of Technology (ITM) of Medellín, in its headquarters in Robledo; due to the fact that the University had problems such as slowness and loss of connection with some services on its LAN network. ITM requested diagnostic services on its LAN network and monitoring of its network infrastructure and of the servers that has, with the purpose to optimize the network and enhance the experience of users in front of the service they provide. With the aim of accomplish the study the information about topology, infrastructure and configuration of computers on the LAN network is collected, then it makes the analysis of the topology of the network, the analysis of the configurations of the equipment, the levels of security, the obsolescence of the equipment, the redundancy and availability of service and STP protocol (at a very general level), then it make a diagnosis of the current infrastructure of the LAN network, it also presents the recommendations suggested in terms of safety, practicality, redundancy and traceability to implement in the network. The work was developed between the months of December 2014 and August 2015, with the support and guidance of the Engineer Anselmo Vega and the leader of networks Oscar Gomez on the part of the ITS Company, which is the company hired to perform the consulting.
