Resumen
This research explores how the use of recycled materials in mathematics teaching can serve as an effective tool to foster environmental awareness among students. Through the proposal of a transversal project, it is argued that the inclusion of these materials not only makes classes more meaningful and practical, but also allows students to connect mathematical concepts with real problems in which they reflect on the environment. Some didactic approaches were analyzed, based on the use of recycled objects to teach pre-numeric notions, thus promoting active learning and critical thinking.
In addition, evidence is presented that the proposal that was designed not only improves academic performance, but also sensitizes students about the importance of recycling and sustainability. Among the main results, it was found that integrating recycled materials in the teaching of early mathematics not only helps develop mathematical skills, but also cultivates a sense of environmental responsibility, preparing students from an early age to reflect on environmental problems.
