Resumen
According to the Road Observatory, as of March 2021, more than 1.2 million daily bicycle trips were registered between Bogotá and Cundinamarca and 2.6 million total daily trips by those who live in municipalities of metropolitan incidence. (Sabogal, 2021) In addition to more than 297 kilometers of total daily bicycle trips by those who live in nearby towns. However, cyclists are a vulnerable actor on the road, in the year 2020 until October, according to figures from the Center for Studies and Investigations in Road Safety of Cundinamarca-CEIS-, 37 cyclists have lost their lives on the roads of Bogotá and 35 in the 116 municipalities of Cundinamarca. (IDRD, 2021) The data gathers 16.87% of the deaths of road actors in the region, being in the three most affected road actors along with pedestrians and motorcyclists. On the other hand, based on the report "Panorama of bicycle theft" carried out by the Center for Urban Futures Thought in Bogotá in 2021, bicycle thefts represented 13% of thefts with 8023 cases, increasing by 42% in the last 3 years and being the third most stolen asset from Bogota citizens. (INFOBAE, 2021) Due to the above and taking into account that the use of the bicycle in Bogotá and its surroundings will grow in the following years (Corredor González & Gualdrón Prieto, 2020), there is a need to implement measures to reduce the risk of road accidents and reinforce security to avoid theft of your belongings while using the bicycle.
