Resumen
The following work addresses the main theme of urban interventions as an element of appropriation of public spaces. Articulating this citizen exercise with the dynamics of school environments then becomes the central problem of this research. The construction of a methodological strategy is proposed to guide the way for future exercises and to establish itself as a possibility within the school. This strategy is based on the communicative view of educational environments and the conception of space as a social element, which is linked to a political and cultural vision of the dynamics that develop there. Based on a qualitative applied research, the school: Carlos Arango Vélez, is proposed as a field of application of this proposal. The methodology strategy and its application experience are gathered in an illustrated booklet that puts into play the theoretical and practical elements necessary to execute the urban interventions. Providing communities with tools that explore and make evident their interests, leads to a conception of an open city that demands diversity in the use of space. Getting into the particularities of the community, recognizing its context and the implications of the population with the space, will imply an exploration of its needs and from there propose transitory, participative and low-cost solutions. These needs, as well as their contexts, always multiple and of different nature, will yield specific elements that, as in the case of the Carlos Arango Vélez School, will find diverse paths for their solution.
