Resumen
Through fused deposition modeling (FDM) which is the addition of material layer by layer, this work aims to obtain the characterization of the mechanical properties of HIPS (high impact polystyrene) and TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) materials by means of the manufacture of 3D printing specimens designed by CAD modeling. For the development of the project, they manufactured tension and compression tests carried out in the laboratories of the Francisco José de Caldas District University applying the ASTM D638 tension and ASTM D695 compression standards. The tests yielded important data that allowed a comparison of each of them and also a graphic analysis of stress vs. strain. The determination of the properties was given through a factorial mathematical model which provided evidence of the most important characteristics and in the end an analysis was developed with a variance analysis model of the mechanical properties based on the manufacturing parameters.
