Resumen
This project is enrolled in the research line: science teaching, context and cultural diversity of the group interculturality , science and technology – INTERCITEC- of the Distrital University and presents the results obtained through a classroom experience in a science class with the course 204 of the district school INEM Francisco de Paula Santander, afternoon session in Bogotá. It is also focused on classroom activities that involve students´ interests and concerns about the way the content or waste of a bin may be used in the classroom and is directed through the ATA´s approach which enabled determine that there is a narrow relationship between concepts and cultural practice that parents, grandparents and social actors like environmental retriever and assistants have about waste handle and involve students´ interests and concerns. The practices developed during the science class involve traditional knowledge since a sociocultural perspective and let these social actors guide the students to activities that become culturally meaningful in the way the students could reflect on the current handle of the waste and determine how this knowledge may influence on the reduction of the amount of waste that is produced daily in the classroom.
