Resumen
The health sector, specifically the hospital sector, is a two-dimensional variable in the process of environmental deterioration, firstly, it contributes to treating, controlling and reducing the environmental effects on human health, while actively and involuntarily participating in the increase of environmental pollution, through the technologies and resources it uses, and the waste it generates in its different processes. For this reason, this research proposed the design of a model for measuring hospital environmental management from the perspective of ecological intelligence in the health sector, which would make it possible to establish the relationship between the organization’s environmental performance and the environmental attitudes of its collaborators. To this end, the theory of environmental management applied in hospitals was taken as a starting point, which has three specific approaches: the integral management of hospital waste, the optimum consumption of electricity service and the responsible use of water resource. This, combined with the evaluation and analysis of the behaviour of collaborators with relationship with environmental issues, allowed obtaining a first basis for the development of Ecological Intelligence in the health sector, which offers the opportunity to increase its level of environmental responsibility as a differentiating factor and business competitiveness.
