Resumen
The theoretical review of traceability shows the absence of a common theoretical framework, which prevents the development of unified theme; without a common theoretical framework, confusion is generated when designing systems in different supply chains and evidence does not allow social and business benefits that can be obtained. This document aims to create a clear definition of traceability, standardization of features and schemes for the design of any traceability system, regardless of sector or product which is oriented; also detect relevant aspects pertaining to design traceability systems for supply chains in the pharmaceutical sector and meat sector It was found that the main motivational drivers for implementing traceability are: legislation, food safety, quality assurance, stakeholder pressures and economic concerns of the organization; In addition, these drivers generally encompass the different objectives that companies or governments are set. Finally, it is important to note that both governments and companies to implement traceability systems should encompass the entire supply chain, for which they need cooperation agreements and efficient mechanisms for collection and storage of physical or digital information.
