Resumen
Electrical power distribution systems are complex networks that must meet high standards of quality and continuity of supply. To guarantee these objectives, network operators have established strict regulations on energy consumption and quality. However, over time, users have incorporated increasingly sophisticated and complex electrical equipment and systems that generate disturbances in the network. Traditionally, power factor control has been achieved using capacitor banks, but this technology is insufficient to meet the current demands of the electrical system. In response to this need, static var generators (SVGs) have emerged—advanced equipment that allows for more efficient and dynamic power factor correction. Although this technology has already entered the country, its availability is limited, and its implementation has not yet reached the desired level. Therefore, this project aims to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of importing SVG equipment, identifying market conditions, and analyzing the development potential of this business in Colombia
