Resumen
Due to various factors , the optical telecommunication systems today , are aimed at providing greater network capacity . Such demand is driven by factors as the growth of Internet traffic, the number of users and the bandwidth available for each . A few years ago , the technologies of broadband access , such as the Line Digital Subscriber Line ( DSL ) and cable modems , could offer bandwidths around 1Mbps per user , compared to the access technology through lines that provided telephone transmission rates up to 56 Kbps and 28 . This is why FTTH ( Fiber to the Home) has shown a steady growth in the most important markets worldwide. Currently, traffic on a network is dominated by the flow of data and not, for traffic Traditional voice. By contrast, traditional networks that developed in the last decades were designed to provide greater efficiency to the flow of voice data flow. Today in day, data transport services provide such quality service support applications sensitive such as voice and video in real time. Because of this, it has greatly promoted the development of high capacity optical networks, speed and covering long distances. Optical networks offer a promising solution to the aforementioned problems, due that besides providing high capacity network, also provide a common infrastructure, which can deliver a variety of services. These networks, in turn, are increasingly efficient when delivering a bandwidth It is flexible. It is for this reason that the use of fiber optics has increased considerably in recent years, since it offers greater bandwidth compared to copper cables, and is less susceptible to other undesirable effects such as electromagnetic interference. That is why the current government, headed by the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications through the "National Fiber Optic Project" seeks to promote expansion of existing optical fiber infrastructure in the country, in order to reach more number of Colombians with better services, technical and economic conditions. To do this, the project promotes the deployment of optical infrastructure in the country, with arrival points in the municipalities of each of the municipalities to benefit the project. The expansion, coverage and marketing of telecommunications services (broadband, television, telephony, and others) in each of the municipalities, will be responsible for running the proposer project or other operators interested in providing these services. With the above is expected to provide a solid base of study to confirm the hypothesis about the benefits it would bring the implementation of an optical link High spectrally efficient operator networks locally clear speed.
