Resumen
Although 1991’s Colombian Constitution recognized indigenous communities’ rights, many ethnic groups have seen their customs; traditions and even their territories deteriorate, because of the endemic violence that Colombia has been experiencing for dozens of years. One of these communities is Embera, particularly Dóbidas, who had to face the terrible conditions of forced displacement, cultural uprooting, difficult conditions of existence and even the infamous condition of living in foreign lands as exiles on their own Homeland. In order to answer the question about the configuration cultural identity of this population in the city of Bogotá, we undertook the task of consulting authorized sources, not only from bibliographic sources, but especially from the analysis of the protagonists’ statements of the story themselves and the power’s discourses that affect them, applying the research design critical analysis of the ACD discourse, from a qualitative approach. The result of this research exercise allowed us to develop an updated vision of life style, circumstances and problems assumed by Emberas in the big city and the recommendations that they themselves make to overcome their hard situation, based on their own learning and experiences.
