Resumen
This paper describes the design and construction process of a prototype organic Rankine cycle (ORC) at the laboratory level to be used by teachers, laboratorians and students of the courses of Technology and Mechanical Engineering with the purpose of supporting the teaching process Learning, in addition to developing research in the area of thermal sciences.
In order to carry out this project, it was decided to select the working fluid, ethyl alcohol, and the ideal thermodynamic conditions of the cycle were established. In order to be able to realize the equipment some parts were designed (calculated) and manufactured, while others were selected or modified (pipes, valves, manometer, thermometer, screws, cylinder, tube of level, etc.), these elements adapted to each other. As an additional criterion during the manufacture of the equipment, safety aspects and process viability were taken into account.
The equipment reaches a continuous flow of working fluid in each of the components of the prototype working simultaneously, ie: pumping system, from the condensed fluid reservoir, evaporation in the boiler, work on the turbine and condensate in the condenser . The above is understood that the cycle is fulfilled and that the final prototype is functional, that is, it generates useful energy from the heat supplied.
