Estructuración de técnicas silviculturales y esquema para la emisión de créditos de carbono mediante la reforestación con pino caribe (Pinus caribaea var. caribaea) en la Orinoquia Colombiana

Abstract

This project focuses on the development of silvicultural design structures for Caribbean Pine (Pinus caribaea var. caribaea), with the aim of integrating a carbon credit issuance scheme into a reforestation activity in the Orinoquia region of Colombia, and its subsequent commercialization as specialized consulting services. To carry out this project, a characterization of the carbon market is conducted, highlighting afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation initiatives, with the goal of understanding the supply and potential demand for credits derived from these activities. Additionally, the carbon credit issuance scheme is designed throughout the reforestation project's lifecycle, which includes the periods of validation, verification, and credit issuance. Furthermore, the project evaluates the economic feasibility of developing carbon credits through cost analysis, income projections, and a return on investment analysis with different financing scenarios. In summary, the overall objective of this project is to provide tools for those interested in developing similar initiatives in the Orinoquia region of Colombia, taking advantage of the growing interest in economic activities that mitigate global warming, specifically through the removal of CO2 emissions. Additionally, it seeks to promote the development of alternative economic activities to the traditional ones in Colombian rural areas, in order to foster the development of local communities.
