Resumen
Occupational health and safety is a fundamental area of study in all industries and sectors; because it refers to the measures or practices designed to guarantee physical, mental and social protection in any work environment. This, in turn, focuses on the identification, evaluation and mitigation of occupational risks that could cause accidents or occupational diseases in professionals, affecting their general conditions. The Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, in its commitment to continuous improvement in occupational risk management, establishes and periodically reviews compliance with the objectives of its occupational health and safety management system; developing risk training, prevention and promotion activities involving its entire management team to safeguard the integrity of the people involved in the LAMDA laboratory, thus supporting the quality of research, innovation and learning. The LAMDA laboratory must have a correct risk assessment since it is an environment that is exposed to various risks which must be evaluated and managed effectively. Therefore, from this work a study is elaborated in three different phases. The first of these was based on the documentation of the space and equipment supported by the PDCA cycle, followed by the identification and assessment of risks in machines, equipment and laboratory tools, including personal protection elements for their proper handling. Lastly, hygienic measurements were carried out in the laboratory (lighting, temperature and sonometry) in order to know the current conditions to which students and workers will be subjected in this space; since these are essential to guarantee the efficiency, quality and safety of the activities carried out in the laboratory. Thus, through the implementation of health and safety measures for this new laboratory, not only is the protection of the people involved sought, but the bases are also established for a successful and sustainable operation; thus guaranteeing the implementation of safe practices, which in turn contributes to the quality of research and the achievement of scientific objectives.
