Resumen
Thermal districts (DT) are facilities that help in sustainable air conditioning, in the same way, these systems emit less carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere than a conventional air conditioning system, consequently, being more efficient and reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) are eligible for benefits or tax incentives, such as carbon credits. In Colombia, the purchase and sale of carbon credits is associated with two specific markets, the voluntary and the regulated. The markets aim to reduce GHG emissions through innovation, process optimization and technological advancement in the industry. For the purposes of the research, it is highlighted that the certificates of mitigation results can be implemented favorably in the DTs, since great benefits are evident in economic and environmental terms. Additionally, with the use of renewable energies, there is the opportunity to cover the energy demand of thermal districts, consequently, the benefits mentioned above are significantly increased.
