Resumen
The disinterest that students show in the classroom and the lack of innovation of teachers when carrying out their work, do not allow them to reach a meaningful learning of the content covered in the curriculum of the students. For this reason, there is a need for educators to generate strategies that promote the understanding of concepts and phenomenons, especially scientific topics, due to the complexity of transmitting this knowledge. The present research aimed to address these problems through the implementation of the didactic unit that was developed based on the previous knowledge of 9th grade students of the EXTERNATE CAMILO TORRES EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION and that relates the elements of Hip Hop with the teaching of the nervous system, in search of the prevention of consumption and abuse of psychoactive substances as an important factor for the care of mental health. The data obtained after the application of the innovative strategy allowed for qualitative and quantitative analyses, so the nature of this research is mixed. The results allow us to conclude that the use of Hip Hop elements as a didactic tool awakens interest, improves the understanding of previous ideas and the integration of new knowledge, facilitates the educational process and is a way of vindicating the educational role of this historically stigmatized movement.
