Resumen
The reading practices inside the classroom are decontextualized and far from the reality of the students. For this reason, the objective of this research is to improve reading comprehension in fifth grade students based on their interests and life experiences. The research interest arises from the ethnographic work carried out where the difficulty and lack of motivation for reading is evident. There is a need to implement strategies that improve their reading process. Likewise, work was sought with texts related to the context, preferences and reality. Taking into account these particularities, the life story was chosen to bring children closer to reading with texts that are easy to understand and that handle problems that are very close to their reality.
