Resumen
This document describes the process of design and implementation of two learning environments, oriented towards the mathematical modeling of astronomical phenomena related to the apparent movement of the sun and its brightness. The proposal was implemented with students of the astronomy Club of a public educational institution in the city of Bogotá. Initially, the filed investigation of the theoretical components related to the teaching of mathematics, the learning environments, the Astronomy and the methodological options, are presented, focusing on mathematical modeling as a teaching method for the design and development of the learning environments, which involve theoretical, conceptual and procedural aspects related to the topic, the representation and analysis of data obtained from daily experiences. Next, the instruments for gathering information are designed and the implementation phases are exposed using a qualitative methodology that allows a complete description of the process developed from the perspective of the action research. This project integrates elements of the teaching of mathematics and astronomy through student experiences in contexts where not only student motivation was achieved but also a considerable advance in their mathematical skills related to numerical, geometric, metric, spatial and variational thinking.
