The research that develops the present work focused on understanding the perspectives that have emerged during the implementation of the basic standards of competencies in natural sciences, firstly as curricular references oriented from the Ministry of National Education (MEN) and its incidence in the first place. instance, in the construction of knowledge with respect to the teaching of natural sciences; second, the diverse perspectives that its implementation has generated analyzed in terms of the problems, contributions and challenges for the pedagogical practice of teachers. The Basic Standards of Competencies as curricular and political orientations that situate and develop the pedagogical practice of teachers become a starting point for the elaboration of study plans in Educational Institutions (IE), the design of evaluative practices and as orientations build epistemological, disciplinary, cognitive and pedagogical conceptions. As an object of research, standards and competencies as part of educational policy show a reflexive and critical academic community regarding their implementation and the changes they provoke in the dynamics of the I.E. The documentary research as a methodological approach allowed to collect the meanings and perspectives that emerge from the experiences of the teachers, the knowledge they have of the educational reality and how it affects their practice, under the assumptions of the interpretive paradigm that allows the experiences, meanings and the glances through the documents.
