Resumen
The purpose of this study is to provide an objective approach to the essential problems involved in clarinet sound production at tropical altitudes (breathing and reed management). The topic arises due to the insufficient information available and the need to explain what is done intuitively. This research is aimed at all clarinetist colleagues, residing at altitude, who wish to have clarity on the problem posed, and those who, located in cities at sea level, must perform instrumental practices (give concerts, take classes, compete, etc.) at higher altitudes (Bogotá). The work is also a point of reference for performers of other wind instruments. The structure of this is as follows: first, a frame of reference is presented, which introduces the reader to the subject; tropical altitude and sound emission. Next, the methodology is explained. Subsequently, the product of the surveys and interviews with eight instrument pedagogues of the instrument, a pulmonologist, and the president of Cañas González are analyzed. The fundamental point of the work (see section 5), was enriched with the valuable contributions of other professionals. The above is consolidated in the numeral that alludes to the scientific approach to the problems related to clarinet sound production at tropical altitude, followed by the recommendations. The study concludes with the conclusions, the bibliography consulted, and the annexes consisting of the database, the interviews, and the surveys.
