Resumen
This research explores the use of digital culture, specifically memes, as a resource to teach English language vocabulary at a public school in Bogota. The study was conducted with a group of students who were exposed to memes as a means of reinforcing vocabulary acquisition. In this study, the researchers focused on the potential of memes as a teaching resource, considering their widespread use and popularity among students. As cultural elements that are easily copied and spread through imitation (Dawkins, 1976), memes offer an opportunity to engage students in the learning process through a familiar and entertaining medium. By tapping into the "hyper-memetic logic" (Lehman et al., 2016) of meme culture, teachers can create a learning environment that is both engaging and effective. Overall, the study suggests that the incorporation of digital culture, particularly memes, can be an effective and engaging way to teach English language vocabulary, while also fostering a sense of community and cultural awareness among students.
