Resumen
This document presents the state of the art of management and research on persistent organic pollutants in Colombia between the years 2007-2017. The comparison of the two versions of the national plan of implementation of the stockholm agreement of 2010 and 2017 was carried out through a matrix, in which four relevant categories were recorded (National context, institutional, regulatory and policy framework, situation of the country against the POPs, strategies and planned actions); along with the above, a systematic review of the literature was carried out to find out the state of research of these substances in the country, classifying them into: quantification in the environment, quantification in humans, degradation / elimination and theoretical review. With the development of the work it was found that Colombia has made great progress in the management of polychlorinated biphenyls and that in the matter of POPs of unintentional emission the necessary measures have not been implemented. In terms of research, most of the studies carried out in Colombia on POP substances have to do with organochlorine pesticides, due to vast agricultural activity that takes place in the country, followed by studies for dioxins and furans, the most recent studies they are including industrial use POPs that are not produced in the country.
