Resumen
We design a pico hydro electrical impulse by a hydrokinetic turbine for The Salao Village, in Choco, Colombia. This hydro electrical works in San Juan River and pretends be an alternative for the supply of electrical power. This village don’t have an electrical power supply because environmental, politic and social causes. The current and future electrical projects in Colombia don’t satisfy all electrical necessities of the country, in spite of the some critics that talk about of an over dimension in the Colombian electrical system. One example of these electrical necessities unsatisfied is the region of Choco. In this region the electrical power supply is precarious and some places don’t have electrical supply. The Choco region is mainly jungle and for this reason is so sensitive for big engineering constructions. Because of this, we design a pico electrical power plant that use a river turbine which transform the movement of the river water (San Juan River) in rotational mechanical energy in order to produce 3000 W by means of a generator of permanent magnets. The pico electrical power plant has a anchoring with buoy and concrete dead for the stabilization of the turbine in the river and an electrical control system for the supply of the regulated current in the place of emplacement. By means of laboratory tests with a simplified and scale model and with an estimation of the cost of the real model we proves that the design system can be used in The Salao region and in other Colombian regions with big flows rivers.
