Resumen
The present research aims to measure the impact of the problem-solving strategy implemented through the EVA in a preparatory course of basic mathematics, on the academic achievement obtained by the students, which is aimed at first-semester students of the program tourism and hotel administration, of the distance education methodology, of the Minuto de Dios University Corporation. The EVA seeks to provide necessary content and skills to students, so that, when taking subjects such as calculus, linear algebra and statistics, they understand the themes and content with conceptual bases, since there is a high number of students enrolled in these subjects, that are reported with academic loss, due to various factors where the academic stands out, this being an important factor of dropout according to (System for the Prevention of Dropout in Higher Education).
