Abstract

Currently, the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (UD) has been working on the consolidation of research lines in each of its faculties. In particular, the Faculty of Arts ASAB and the Proyecto Curricular de Artes Musicales (PCAM) have established lines of research in order to orientate and classify research processes in the area of the arts. Through the analysis of institutional documents, we examine the historical and normative evolution of the concept of lines of research in the institution, identifying challenges and opportunities. Then, information is compiled on the development of the lines of research in the Faculty of Arts ASAB by means of institutional documents provided by the Faculty's Research Office; interviews are also conducted with teachers to corroborate this information. Subsequently, the Natural Language Processing (NLP) is used to analyze the Degree Projects of the PCAM students, extracting key words from the documents and processing the words with different methods up to the use of artificial intelligence tools, such as Large Language Models (LLMs). Finally, it reflects on the use given to the concept of line of research and highlights how PLN can be a valuable tool for analyzing research output, and in this way, strengthen this concept.
