Resumen
This research characterizes the social representations that children have about the conservation of water resources in the village Yerbabuena, municipality of Chía, (Cundinamarca-Colombia) and reveals possible fields of pedagogical work based on their ideas, the values assigned to the resource and the daily practices of fourth grade students of the “Institución Educativa Fusca sede Cerro”, becoming a tool to combat the environmental problems associated with water care, stemming from the direct relationship between the "La Honda" stream and the use that receives the resource from the community and their families in daily life. The research methodology is part of the interpretive paradigm, from a qualitative approach, where information is collected from a questionnaire, the visit to the classroom of an expert in the water resources of the village, a fictitious news design based on its context, field notes and recordings. For the systematization of the data, the MAXQDA® program is used, which constitutes a fundamental tool to carry out the interpretation of the data, using the Grounded Theory proposed by Strauss & Corbin as a reference for coding and discourse analysis. (1998). From there a supercategory associated with conservation is established entitled "Caring for water resources" and the categories, "Optimizing the use of water resources", "Maintaining water in appropriate conditions", and "Promoting the learning of good management habits. " Constituted from emerging codes, which are then constituted as indicators for each of them. Each category is associated to the context of the students, the value of the water resource and the dimensions of social representations. With this, it is expected that the research will allow to propose activities focused on the promotion of water conservation, where the social representations found will be addressed and contribute to the development of new habits in the students that favor the care of the stream “La Honda”.
