Resumen
One of the main shortcomings in the development of tertiary road infrastructure in Colombia is the lack of a comprehensive inventory of roads, which creates uncertainty for authorities regarding the number of roads needing attention. To address this issue, the National Integrated Road Information System (SINC) was established through Law 1228 of 2008. SINC is a public system aimed at keeping information up-to-date on roads throughout the country, including categorization, geographic location, status, project identification, among other data. In line with this, the municipality of Cáqueza, in Cundinamarca, is working to comply with Law 1228/2008, which establishes the rural road network information system (RVR). As a contribution, within the framework of a degree project, a Geographic Information System (GIS) was developed to facilitate the information update process, with data collection considering field topographic surveys as specified by Resolution 0412 of February 26, 2020, the geometric design manual for roads from 2008, and the practical guide for road inventories by USAID.
